It’s been a few of years since we previously shot M/Y Ecstasea in Barcelona see blog post here so it was good to see her and her crew again! This time we were commissioned to shoot stills & film to compliment a new marketing campaign – bit of a challenge as we had to get from Corsica to Monaco over the Grand Prix weekend so we were whisked over the Med by those nice people at Corsica Ferries which was an interesting experience – not sure we’d do that again with 14 cases of kit but we did get a chance to snooze in the cabins for a couple of hours and catch up on some much needed sleep!
M/Y Ecstasea is the largest Feadship ever built with a length of 85.95m and features a massive gas turbine that can propel this beauty to a top speed of over 35 knots. She was delivered in 2004 and has a beam of 11.5m, a draft of 3.8m and a volume of 2,107 GT.
Ecstasea features exterior design by De Voogt Naval Architects and Terence Disdale Design, while her interior was penned by Terence Disdale Design, with naval architecture by De Voogt Naval Architects. Up to 14 guests are accommodated on board and she has accommodation for 24 crew members including the captain. She is powered by 4 MTU engines, 1 General Electric engine and has a cruising speed of 25.0 knots.
Shooting from the heli makes a nice change – always throws up its own issues but we actually ended up using the drones too, just because we could! I think we manage to use all the toys to be honest – the new Canon C70 gear is awesome, nice for David our DoP to end the shoot without back pain!
All in all, a pretty action packed few days with Capt Kyle and the crew – guys you really smashed it, huge thanks to everyone involved 😎 👏 🎥 📸 🎬
